Despite geopolitical tension elsewhere, Japan’s cherry blossom season has officially begun, with the first blooms observed in Tokyo. This marks the start of the annual Hanami festivals, which attract millions of tourists and locals alike.
The Japan Meteorological Agency made the announcement as thousands gathered in Ueno Park and other iconic viewing spots. Economists also expect a boost to tourism and local business from the event.
