Northern Lights Visible Across Several U.S. States

On the night of April 4 into the early morning of April 5, the northern lights, or aurora borealis, are expected to be visible across several parts of the United States. This rare natural light display results from geomagnetic storms caused by solar particles interacting with Earth's atmosphere. Optimal viewing is between 10:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. local time, especially in darker, rural areas away from city lights. Visibility is more likely in northern states such as Alaska, Washington, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, and Michigan, with possible sightings in others like New York, Vermont, and Iowa.
